About D. Williams
D. "Cowboy" Williams was raised in Riverdale, Georgia and is a proud graduate from Riverdale High School. Williams attended Morris Brown College and graduated from West Virginia State University, where he earned a B. S. degree in Psychology and participated on the university’s football team.
Williams’ career experience includes serving as a firefighter in Institute, West Virginia. He also had the privilege of collaborating closely with members of the Charleston, WV, Albany, Atlanta, and Douglasville, GA, Fire Departments. As a State certified firefighter, he excelled in the areas of extrication, animal rescue, and Hazmat.
Williams’ political journey began in 2007 during one of the toughest times of his life. While the incident is part of his past, he continues to dedicate this debt to society as an asset to his life understanding the reality of helping young people, identifying resolution options for senior needs, and making his community a better place for all to live.
As a field organizer for President Barack Obama's campaign team in Alabama, he served in a myriad of positions, including the role of legislative aid - Chief of Staff. Serving in these positions offered Williams the opportunity to gain experience and to enhance the trust between government and constituents. Further, he served people from various socio-economic backgrounds. The cultural connection allowed him the chance to eliminate barriers and encouraged him to develop an unbiased and safe space for people to speak honestly about the true needs of our community.
Williams has successfully conducted fund raising events and served on committees, to assist the Private Investigator of the grant. Williams continues to serve his church, motivational speaker for youth workshops and adult training, and his community in promoting a culture of belonging.
In 2018, Minister Williams joined the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. During his time at the CME Church, he continues to perform duties to connect with young people and others seeking spiritual resolution. He has learned the significance of concern for others and how we must teach people how to help themselves. Williams is the proud father of three children, Saylor, Logan, and Denym Williams. He is a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Prince Hall Mason and continues to serve his community. For these reasons, Williams is a viable and productive community leader.
